Extension work
| Considerable work
has been done by the faculty in extending knowledge to various target groups
in the community ranging from street food vendors, rag pickers to
housewives, school going children and professionals. More than 3500 persons
have been trained in the last five years. The Department has been running
libraries for children in 6 slums for the last 6 years. It has conducted
educational activities for diabetics, provided training on nutrition and
health as well as sanitation and hygiene to various target groups. It has
developed modules and trained various target groups including NGO
representatives, field level functionaries, and trainers on growth
monitoring and promotion, malnutrition and complementary feeding, helped
trainers develop a training curriculum for prevention of malnutrition of
young children in Maharashtra, conducted public education programme with
Kasturba Health Society on Menopause, Nutrition and Health of Older women. |
